To knit this hat, we're going to...Here you go!

To knit this hat, we're going to begin with the band. Anyway, begin by casting on 16 stitches with your main color yarn (for me, that's the blush), and then we'll move straight to the pattern:

Row 1 (wrong side): p2, k4, p4, k4, p2

Row 2: k2, p4, k4, p4, k2

Row 3: p2, k4, p1, slip 2 stitches with yarn in front, p1, k4, p2

Row 4: k2, p2, slip next three stitches to cn and hold in back, k1, and then k3 from cn; slip next stitch to cn and hold in front, k3, and then k1 from cn; p2, k2

Rows 5, 7, & 9: p2, k2, p8, k2, p2

Rows 6, 8, & 10: k2, p2, k8, p2, k2

Row 11: p2, k2, slip 1 with yarn in front, p6, slip 1 with yarn in front, k2, p2

Row 12: k2, p2, slip next stitch to cn and hold in front, p2, k1, k1 from cn, slip next three stitches to cn and hold in back, k1, and then k1, p2 from cn, p2, k2

Rows 13 & 14: repeat rows 1 & 2

Repeat rows 1 - 14 eight times, and then bind off, knitting the knit stitches and purling the purls. Then, beginning at the left-hand side of the band as seen from the right side, pick up 82 stitches along top edge of band with your main color yarn, which should correspond to roughly 10 stitches for every repeat of the motif. Purl one row across, and then we’ll continue as follows. Remember to leave your yarn loose behind your slipped stitches! You will also be slipping knit stiches with the yarn in back and purl stitches with the yarn in front.

Row 1 (right side): with your first accent color, k1, * k3, slip 1; rep from *, end k1

Row 2: with your first accent color, p1, * slip 1, p3; rep from *, end p1

Row 3 with your main color, k1, * k1, slip 1, k2 *, end k1

Row 4: with your main color, p1, * p2, slip 1, p1 *, end p1

Rows 5 & 6: repeat rows 1 & 2 with your second accent color

Rows 7 & 8: with your main color, repeat rows 3 & 4

Repeat rows 1 - 8 three times, and then we'll knit two transition rows as follows, all with your main color yarn:

Transition Row 1 (right side): k1, * p3, slip 1, k11, slip 1 *, end k1

Transition Row 2: p1, * slip 1, p11, slip 1, k3 *, end p1

After knitting this row twice, it's time to begin the decreases. Here they go!

Decrease row 1: k1, * p3, ssk, k9, k2tog *, end k1

Decrease row 2: p1, * p2tog, p7, ssp, k3 *, end p1

Decrease row 3: k1, * p3, ssk, k5, k2tog *, end k1

Decrease row 4: p1, * p2tog, p3, ssp, k3 *, end p1

Decrease row 5: k1, * p3, ssk, k1, k2tog *, end k1

Decrease Row 6: p1, * p3tog, k3 *, end p1

Decrease Row 7: k1, * p3tog, p1 *, end k1

Decrease Row 8: p1, * k2tog *, end p1

Clip tail and thread through final 7 stitches. Thread to inside of hat and knot. Seam from bottom and tuck in ends.Gretchen Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13720728303685051589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-8051115527871376962021-09-14T18:26:58.273-07:002021-09-14T18:26:58.273-07:00Hi please can you share this pattern using straigh...Hi please can you share this pattern using straight needles.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-16790001675652628352014-12-15T15:48:07.975-08:002014-12-15T15:48:07.975-08:00Hey, thanks for the catch!
