I've adapted it below. Please note that it will have a much stronger seam (the circular version avoids this by changing the placement of the end of the row).

So let's get started! Using the size 5 circular needle, cast on 122 stitches loosely. Work one inch in a k1, p1 ribbing and then switch to your size 8 needle; now it's time to begin the main pattern.

Rows 1 & 3 (right side): k1, * k2tog, (yo) twice, ssk; rep from *, end k1

Rows 2 & 4: p1, * p1, (k1-back, k1) in double yo, p1 *, end p1

Rows 5 & 7: k3, * k2tog, (yo) twice, ssk *, end k3

Rows 6 & 8: p4, * (k1-b, k1) in double yo, k2 *, end p2

Repeat rows 1 - 8 until piece measures roughly 6 inches and you've just completed row 8. Now we're going to start towards the decrease, although you'll need the following notation to proceed:

rt (right twist): knit two together, leaving stitches on left-hand needle; next, insert right-hand needle from the front between the two stitches just knitted together, and knit the first stitch again. Finally, slip both stitches from left-hand needle together

lt (left twist): with right-hand needle behind left-hand needle, skip one stitch and knit the second stitch in back loop; then insert right-hand needle into the backs of both stitches and k2tog-b (knit two together through back loops, inserting right needle from the right)

Row 1 (right side): k1, * (yo) twice, ssk, k2tog; rep from *, end k1

Row 2: p1, * p2, (k1-back, k1) in double yo, [p2, (p1-back, p1) in double yo] twice *, end p1

Row 3: k1, * k1, rt, lt, k2, k2tog, (yo) twice, ssk, k1 *, end k1

Row 4: p1, * p2, (k1-back, k1) in double yo, p8 *, end p1

Row 5: k1, * rt, k2, lt, k1, k2tog, (yo) twice, ssk, k1 *, end k1

Row 6: p2, * p2tog, p1, (k1-back, k1) in double yo, p1, ssp, p4 *

Row 7: * k5, k2tog, (yo) twice, ssk, k1 *, end k2

Row 8: p2, * p2tog, (k1-back, k1) in double yo, ssp, p4 *

Row 9: * k4, ssk, k2tog *, end k2

Row 10: p2, * p2tog, p4 *

Row 11: * p3, p2tog *, end k2

Row 12: p2, * p2tog, p2 *

Row 13: k2, * p1, p2tog *

Row 14: * p2tog *

Clip thread; thread through final 11 stitches, bring to inside of hat and knot. Seam from bottom and tuck in ends.Gretchen Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13720728303685051589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-53595491631607007172021-09-19T17:14:03.529-07:002021-09-19T17:14:03.529-07:00Please can I have this pattern using straight need...Please can I have this pattern using straight needles and with yarn gauge 22 stitches =4 inch using size 6 needles.
Rachna Nadgirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03956163622253568944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-19701566045916530302015-08-18T03:19:24.472-07:002015-08-18T03:19:24.472-07:00You are very welcome! :)You are very welcome! :)Gretchen Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13720728303685051589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-58138834035104502982015-08-17T23:11:52.868-07:002015-08-17T23:11:52.868-07:00Awesome thank you so much!Awesome thank you so much!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06959812348778829196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-33596963579834644272015-08-16T14:16:18.930-07:002015-08-16T14:16:18.930-07:00Hi again!

I'm struggling with the (p1, p1-back) in double yo I can't find a video for this stich.
