That said, if you're determined to do it, you should start short rows about 3 inches from the top of the hat. Continue to work the cable at the front as you go, and on the first short row knit until you're 1 stitch from the middle of the hat, then wrap & turn and return. On the next right side row, knit until you're 2 stitches from the middle of the hat, wrap & turn and return. Continue this, with each short row stopping 1 stitch before the last, until you've reached the correct hat length. Then knit across, picking up wrap and turns as you go, and then repeat the same stitches on the other side, again continuing the cable.

Hope that helps! :)Gretchen Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13720728303685051589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-30163445389513923322022-01-17T20:01:43.721-08:002022-01-17T20:01:43.721-08:00Could you maybe explain how to mash the two togeth...Could you maybe explain how to mash the two together Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06205731955225494720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6683194221069775925.post-43858901187617333062022-01-17T13:30:56.121-08:002022-01-17T13:30:56.121-08:00I have checked this against the friends of the for...I have checked this against the friends of the forest. Now you're going to start knitting it flat instead, so to work this row from the wrong side you will need to literally turn the piece around, as you do in flat knitting when you get to the end of a row.
